Ten Days To Easter

By Ding Guevarra |

God has called SJBCI to pray intensely ten days before Easter Sunday comes. And so we did. But why? Eight years ago, month of April, this church has started to pray for world – wide revival. An undertaking God himself planted in our hearts. And to this day we still do.

Prayer covenants and fasting (personal and corporate) has been established between and among the brethren. Over the years, and in majority of times, teaching and preaching themes revolve around revival. Periods of intense focus and periods of looseness were experienced. And discouragement from time to time pops up.It wasn’t a perfect seeking! Except for one three-day Revival weekends emphasis,we come to a mind  set that emphasis should be whole year round. We believe that focus, energy, intensity and preparations should be throughout the year admitting we really cannot schedule true revival. God alone can, at His good pleasure. We believe it then, we still believe it today.

This Ten-Day prayer with lunch fasting is another segment in the life of this church undergoing a test on its resolve ton seek the face of God in favor of His mighty visitation. One of those specials calls where people we’re asked to set aside particular times of day to prayer and to fast. To distance themselves from food and people in giving  their minds  a clear focus on God, in humility of hearts.

When shall a flash of His glory occur in America again? When shall the nations of the earth bend their knees and call upon the name of LIVING GOD ? The answer lies with God. But eight years and counting, we’re still waiting for God to act on His good pleasure. Yes, we desire to see His glory, His mighty visitation,His power  in the beauty of His Holiness. When revival comes, there’s nothing like it. This may even be more powerful compare to previous ones HE did in the years of our fathers. What is five hundred millions of souls to God in  this coming glorious revival? Precious! Precious! But He will mobilize these millions to reach out to others. Alas, this is His way among us, reaching out and touching lives by the power of His Holy Spirit through us.

And so, what about after Easter Sunday? Will we continue to fast and to pray? We’re waiting for the call of the Holy Spirit about that. We’re taking it one segment at a time. For one,  it’s yet Easter Sunday! Few more days and it is. We are still  being broken on  this  "Ten Days to Easter" journey.God has softened our hearts that without fail in our nightly prayers, admission and confessions of sin become a natural part of communion with Him. And going around churches and  nations around the world nightly, is a trip for the first time thoroughly enjoy. We’re re-discovering intimacy with God in prayer.

What lies ahead after this? The Holy Scripture tells us that the Lord Jesus has stay for forty days more and then at Pentecost, the promise of both the Father and the Son, the Holy spirit, has come and descended upon those praying and waiting in the upper room. This is an exciting thought. For sure, one glorious encounter with the Holy Spirit we long to repeat. Unashamedly I say, we covet the fresh pouring  of the Holy Spirit upon us today…Oh, do it again Lord, do it again, for your name’s sake,do it again…REVIVE YOUR PEOPLE AND SAVE THE WORLD !
